The Beginning
I’m an “I think of a lot of crazy ideas” kind of guy. Sometimes, if the thought inspires me enough, I’ll go to my laptop and write a few hundred (or often thousand) words about it. I frequently end up with long free writes that could become essays for this site.
But most of them don’t receive the honor of having “published” next to their name.
This means I have a damn big digital graveyard of personal essays begging to light up on the very website you’re reading right now.
For a long time, I wondered what to do with those essays. There’s always a reason I don’t post them. Usually, the idea fails to excite me over time or is so personal that I’d prefer not to share it with the world. So, I don’t let my essay graveyard make me feel ashamed or regretful.
But thinking about the graveyard makes me realize I’m hiding an even bigger pile of bones. As a writer, I often come up with crazy ideas for stories to share. Sometimes, they’re fiction, sometimes actual events in my life, and sometimes observations that are funny to me yet embarrassing for the main character.
If I already don’t share every essay I write here, then I can assure you 99% of the ideas I come up with will never see my sector of the internet here.
That’s why I’m creating this section—The Daily Dump.
It’s a place for me to share some of my many ideas without having to spend a few hours writing a meaningful essay on them.
These are short, snappy pieces—hopefully—never running over 300 words.
So, enjoy…
