How to Have More Interesting Ideas
To have more interesting ideas, you must consume more interesting ideas.
There are periods in my life when I feel like I have no captivating ideas or stories to share. Maybe it’s the over-analyzer in me, but when this happens, I feel as if I’m the most boring person in the room. As if no one wants to hear what I have to say.
Luckily, I know a simple solution to escape these idea droughts.
All I need do is consume more ideas. Consume more knowledge.
This comes in many forms: reading books, reading articles/blogs, listening to podcasts, watching YouTube videos (educational ones not the silly TikTok wannabes), talking to fascinating people, and so on.
The more information and unique perspectives I expose myself to, the more interesting the ideas I generate.
What intrigues me is that consuming ideas doesn’t only help me create new ideas. It also helps me remember stories/ideas from my past. It revives hidden gems I’m on the brink of forgetting—like the three other essays I posted today.
Over the last two days, I have read many interesting articles and chatted with many interesting people. Now, I have too many ideas to share and implement. Hence why this short essay is the fourth one I've published in the last eight hours.
If you ever find yourself lacking interesting stories, do what I do. Consume more ideas and expose yourself to more fascinating stories/people.
