Focus on the Outcome, Not the Tools
Bakers use whisks and spatulas to make a cheesecake for you. Landscapers use mowers and edgers to trim your yard. And barbers/hairdressers use razors, scissors, and hair dryers to make you look less like a mess.
But let’s be real…
You don’t care about your baker’s whisks and spatulas. You don’t care about your landscaper’s mowers and edgers. And you surely don’t give a damn about your hairdresser’s razors, scissors, and hair dryers (unless you’re worrying about them cutting you with the first two).
Instead…
You care about how delicious your cheesecake tastes, how much better your lawn looks than your neighbor’s, and how jealous everyone at work will be about your haircut.
When you’re the expert (the baker, landscaper, or barber), the tools matter. You know the upside to owning a $350 pair of scissors versus a $150 pair.
But when you’re the person consuming the service or product, the tools mean nothing. You only care about the finished good and how it affects your life.
So, when you're sharing your journey with others, don't focus on the tools you use to get to the end, focus on the impact the outcome at the end has.
