A Lil Chat About Life (it won't bore you... I think)
Let’s take a break from the usual blog posts for this 66 Days of Math and Programming to talk about some real-life issues here.
Well, I wouldn’t necessarily call what I’m about to talk about issues…
But today, my fellow data dork, we’re talking about the stone-cold truth behind why I want to break into the dorky world of data. And it’s not what you’d expect.
So without further ado, let’s dot his thang…
In case you haven’t noticed by now, I love math. You know what… I LOVE math.
We have a love-hate, on-off-again relationship, but no matter how crazy or physical our fights get, we always make up…
The reason I want to be in the dorky world of data is so that later in my career I can pursue something that involves real math. Not you easy addition, subtraction, and multiplication.
I want to create mathematical models.
Advanced stuff that your average data analyst (and maybe even data scientist) would never dare try. The kind of equations that make people pee their pants.
So that’s my motivation.
But there’s a downside to all of this.
I’m always thinking so much about working in some advanced (non-entry level career) like quant finance, data science, and financial engineering.
So whenever I think about the data analyst jobs I’m applying for, I feel a little down knowing I won’t be using my hardcore math skills.
For now, it’s something I can’t control.
At least that’s what I think.
But if you, you random stranger who I don’t that’s reading this dorky blog post, have any advice for me, just let me know.
You can connect with me here.
Okay, I’m done for today. Just wanted to rant a lil…
