66 Days of Math and Programming: An Adventure in the Making
I think I’m a genius. Yeah, it’s not so modest, huh? But remember, that’s what I think.
Here’s what I know: I’m not a genius.
It’s sad but true.
And even though I can’t memorize everything I read like Mike Ross or write flawless code like those engineers on the show Silicon Valley, guess what…
It doesn’t mean I can’t learn a lot.
That’s where these 66 Days of Math and Programming enter the chat.
This iPod shuffle of a blog post is all about:
- What my experiment is
- Why I’m doing it
- The Non-negotiable rules
Enough chit-chat. Let’s dive in…
What my experiment is
I’m gonna write and publish a blog post every day for 66 days straight. Yeah, it’s a lot, but these won’t be 2000+ word Godzillas. They’ll be short and snappy pieces averaging 300-500 words a piece.
But no matter what, each piece will explain some complex math or programming topic I learned the previous day.
The goal for each post is to cut the fluff and make the topics easy for anyone to understand – even your non-tech-savvy parents.
Why I’m doing it
As I transition back into the math field, I’m studying A LOT. There’s a whole lotta:
- Practice problems
- Projects
- Reading
Rather than lose track of what I’m doing, this experiment will help me document my journey and stay consistent.
So here are the benefits I’m expecting to get from these 66 days:
- I’ll improve my communication skills from writing daily
- I’ll master how to make complex topics easy to understand
- I’ll remember more of what I learn
The non-negotiable rules
Since I’m relying on myself and this dorky website for accountability, I decided to set two rules for this experiment. They’re nothing crazy but super important and valuable to have:
- I have to write and publish something daily. No off-days.
- I have to write about something I learned the previous day. So no batch writing in advance to save time.
Wrapping up
That’s it.
This ain’t some fancy seven-course dinner at an NYC penthouse Steakhouse. I’m not trying to show off or impress anyone.
If anything, I doubt anyone’s actually gonna read these posts. But guess what, you “fool crazy enough to be reading this post right now,” I don’t care if no one reads what I write.
The only reader I care about is myself.
I hope my writing helps others understand these math and programming topics too, but that’s not the focus. I’m turning my blog into a personal GitHub repository full of hidden gems.
So yeah, that’s about all.
I’m writing this on July 1st, 2023, and the 66 day adventure kicks off on Monday, July 3rd. See ya then.
